99. Why 99? what about 99?

99 is The Names of ALLAH. That's what we found in the Hadith of Prophet saw.

Narrated by Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one;
and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise."
To count something means to know it by heart.

(Bukhari: Volume 9, Book 93, Number 489)

In AlQur'an, ALLAH the Almighty call it " The most Beautiful Names".

So, if you combine Al-Qur'an and the hadith of the Prophet saw, we found

"99 the Most Beautiful Names of ALLAH"

In Arabic, they call it

AsmaulHusna

In Al-Qur'an, the word the MOST BEAUTIFUL NAMES occur 4 times.

7.180

The most Beautiful Names belong to Allah; so call on him by them; but shun such men as distort His names:
for what they do, they will soon be requited.

17.110

Say: "Call upon Allah, or call upon Rahmán: by whatever name ye call upon Him, (it is well):
for to Him belong the Most Beautiful Names.
Neither speak thy Prayer aloud, nor speak it in a low tone, but seek a middle course between."

20.8

Allah. there is no god but He! To Him belong the most Beautiful Names.

59.24

He is Allah, the Creator, the Originator, the Fashioner.
To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth,
doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

99 from surahs and the occurrence

We can't find such number in Al-Qur'an, but with these simple mathematical calculation,
you'll see how Al-Qur'an and Al-hadith are match.

Add all the numbers of Surahs.
Surahs: 7, 17, 20, 59 = 7 + 17 + 20 + 59 = 103.

There are 4 time occurrence of Beautiful Names. If you subtract the total number of the result to the occurence,
you will find the number. Let's have a look.

The result of the Addition of the numbers of surahs = 103
The occurrence = 4

103 - 4 = 99

99 + surahs = Occurrences

Assume that those four surahs are about 99. Add 99 to the number of surahs.

The surahs are 7, 17, 20, and 59

99 +7 = 106

99 +17 = 116

99 + 20 = 119

99 + 59 = 158

Add all the results

106 + 116 + 119 + 158 = 499
